Brat
RolesAlso known as: brat tamer, rebellious sub
A brat is someone who submits with a rebellious streak: they tease, disobey playfully and challenge the dominant, who in turn enjoys “taming” them.
In BDSM language, brat refers to a submissive who lives their role mischievously. Instead of obeying straight away, they joke, talk back, pretend to ignore an order or carry it out their own way. It isn’t disrespect: it’s their way of playing, and it only works if the other side enjoys it.
The brat tamer
Someone who enjoys handling this kind of challenge is called a brat tamer. The dynamic is a kind of affectionate duel: the brat provokes, the dominant responds with firmness, irony or a small agreed consequence, such as a task or a light punishment. The pleasure lies in the exchange itself, in a tug of war whose outcome both already know.
Why people enjoy it
For the brat, rebellion is a way to feel the partner’s presence and attention, and to make the final surrender more intense. For the dominant, it’s a challenge that calls for creativity and authority. Many couples find in this dynamic a dose of humour that lightens the play.
Consent and boundaries
Even rebellion has rules. Agree beforehand which provocations are part of the scene and which aren’t, and which consequences are accepted. Not every dominant likes brats, and there’s nothing wrong with that: it’s a question of compatibility, to be discovered by talking.
