Mummification
Bondage and restraintAlso known as: body wrapping, cling film mummification
Mummification is a form of bondage that wraps the whole body, with cling film, bandages or sacks, giving a feeling of total immobility.
Mummification is a bondage practice in which the partner’s body is wrapped almost completely, as if in a cocoon. Various materials are used: cling film, elastic bandages, special tape that doesn’t stick to the skin, sheets or purpose-made bondage sacks. The result is almost total immobility.
Why people enjoy it
The wrapping creates an even, enveloping pressure that many people find reassuring, almost like a tight hug. At the same time, being unable to move at all leads to deep surrender, sometimes close to subspace. The person wrapping experiences a strong sense of care and responsibility.
Safety
Precisely because it’s so total, mummification requires strict rules:
- the face, nose and mouth always remain completely free, and the neck is never wrapped;
- the chest must not be constricted: the person must be able to breathe deeply without effort;
- blunt-tipped safety shears always within reach, to free the person within seconds;
- a mummified person is never left alone, not even for a moment;
- with materials like cling film the body heats up a lot: watch out for overheating and dehydration, keep water nearby and the room cool;
- agree on a non-verbal signal in case the person can’t speak, and ask often how they are;
- anyone with claustrophobia, panic attacks, heart or breathing problems should say so beforehand, and if in doubt, avoid it.
Start with short sessions and by wrapping only part of the body, to see how you react. It also helps to have someone able to steady the wrapped person, who can’t protect themselves from a fall.
